A youth leadership development event on Wednesday 23 June from 8.30-3pm at Lane Park in Upper Hutt is spearheaded by the Upper Hutt Youth Ambassadors.

The event is focused upon preparing their peers for leadership roles in the Upper Hutt and invitations have been sent to young people aged between 12 and 18 from all local high schools.

The Upper Hutt Youth Ambassadors Programme began in September 2009. 12 Upper Hutt young people were selected to be Youth Ambassadors. The goal of the programme is to enable local young people to gain quality leadership development which in turn will enable them to lead in all aspects of their life; from school to their family and wider community.

The Ministry of Youth Development requested that Upper Hutt City Council apply for additional funding specifically for extending the Youth Ambassadors Programme. Youth Ambassadors decided that was the way they would like to see the additional funding utilised to empower their peers for leadership roles.

The Youth Ambassadors programme is delivered by Upper Hutt City Council in partnership with the Ministry of Youth Development.

Casper Youth Baseball is looking for members of the youth community to play the important role of umpires for the 2010 season.

This opportunity is considered by many as a great chance for youngsters with a bent for baseball to make money besides having a lot of fun.

Most of the umpires are ages 14-16 and play baseball. More umpires in that age group are needed, as well as adults to fill the shortage. Former umpires are encouraged to return to the game.

An umpire school on Tuesday and Thursday evenings begins March 16 at 7 p.m. in room 158 at Swede Erickson Thunderbird Gym at Casper College. The school teaches baseball rules, field mechanics and handling game situations. Cost is $30.

Before we read any further, it is important to note here that none of these birth control methods are fool-proof and pregnancy may still happen even if you made use of any of the methods.

This is the reason why both of you, you and the partner, need to take extreme care and caution while becoming one. It is highly recommended that both of you practice at least one of the pregnancy preventive measures unless you two want to be early parents. Think about the future and not just the present, and things will be happier and more satisfying than ever.
