A new study has suggested that babies born to poor mothers with pregnancy-related diabetes have an extra-high risk of developing attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Gestational diabetes typically develops during the second or third trimester of pregnancy, particularly in women who are overweight before getting pregnancy, do not exercise, or eat an unhealthy diet.

“There seems to be more research going in the direction that… the brains of children with ADHD are different,” said Ginette Dionne, who has studied gestational diabetes and language development at Laval University in Quebec but wasn’t involved in the new study.

“Gestational diabetes may not be a specific cause (of ADHD), but may be one of the factors that affects brain development,” she added.

After Mariah Carey addressed rumors of her pregnancy and told the world that she is ‘very superstitious’, it was time for husband Nick Cannon to reveal that pregnancy for Mariah Carey is more of a spiritual thing.

Cannon told UsMagazine.com at Sunday’s Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day tennis event in Flushing, New York that he believes that ’superstitious’ might be the wrong word.

“Like trying to stay true and stay private for as long as you possibly can.

She wants to keep as much privacy as she possibly can.

Cannon continued to be mum about any baby-to-be.

“She’ll talk when she’s ready to talk,” he said.

But Carey is “working” on an album in L.A. and feeling “good,” Cannon assured reporters.

“I love kids,” he said.

“I’m all about kids. I’m a big kid!”

When asked whether he would welcome twins, he replied “Yeah!

Nine kids at once,” he joked.

Cannon added that he will be more than happy to take blessings of the God that will be showered in the form of a baby.
