Popcorn Can Prevent Cancer

According to a recent study, eating popcorn is good for health and could actually prevent cancer by a significant extent.

Popcorn Can Prevent Cancer

Scientists discovered that popcorns contain ’surprisingly large’ levels of health-boosting antioxidants called polyphenols.

From Dailymail.co.uk:

Polyphenols in fruit and vegetables are thought to help reduce the risk of heart disease, cancer and other diseases.

The U.S. study was led by the chemist Dr Vinson from the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania. It is the first to establish that snack foods and some wholegrain breakfast cereals are a good source of polyphenols.

He said: ‘We really were surprised by the levels of polyphenols we found in popcorn. I guess its because it’s not processed. You get all the wonderful ingredients of the corn undiluted and protected by the skin. In my opinion it’s a good health food.’

Wholegrain products have comparable antioxidants per gram to fruits and vegetables, Dr Vinson said while presenting his findings to the American Chemical Society in Washington.

Vitamin C, a water-soluble vitamin, is required for an efficient performance of routine as well as complex tasks by the human beings. This vitamin is required to be consumed on a daily basis as the body does not store it for future use. For this, one can choose one or a combination of Vitamin C sources such as cauliflower, cabbage, winter squash, papaya, mango, watermelon, green peppers, citrus fruits and juices, broccoli, and turnip greens.

This vitamin (Vitamin C) is essential for the formation of collagen that is needed by the human body to guard itself against wounds, scars, and bone fractures. Vitamin C is also helpful for maintaining high standards of health by preventing aging, which is often caused by free radicals.

Good Health and Lifestyle
Author: admin

Posted in Youth and Health | |

Good Health and LifestyleDespite all of us being aware of the benefits of good health, most of us are left with no time to reap these benefits. The reason may be just anything – busy schedules, sedentary lifestyle, inability to change, inability to differentiate between the good and the bad – but the crux is that we are missing on what is the base of good health, body, and mind.

Being a member of the Youth, you need to understand and remember that good health is not achieved in a day’s time and it cannot be compromised at any point of time. This is because if you are not fit, you will not be in a position to undertake even the routine acts of life. Moreover, natural and safe health is not only important but also necessary to lead a happy and successful life.

So if you are feeding your body with junk food, aerated drinks, smoking, antidepressants, and steroids, it is high time that you change your attitude towards life. Remember, your definition of short-term fun can be equivalent to long-term health complications if you are unable to find out the difference between what is good or bad for you.

In short, good health and active lifestyle go together and any attempt to separate them can cost you dear. Life is yours and you need to take the best decision for yourself.

Health and Fitness – Are you compromising life for short-term fun? When it comes to maintaining high standards of health care and hygiene, most of us are either clueless or do not want to make an effort. But what we forget in the meanwhile is that it is our own health and the onus is all upon us to ensure that it is taken care of by us only.

If you really want to stay fit and healthy, as a youth, then you need to have a close look at what you eat and drink. This is because these habits influence the body to a great extent.

That clearly means that you need to eat more of fresh fruit and vegetable and say good bye to junk food such as Pizzas, Burgers, and Hot Dogs. In addition to that, you need to stay away from bad habits such as steroids, drugs, smoking, and alcohol. In addition to that, an active lifestyle along with exercises such as gym workouts, swimming, and jogging is good for you. In addition to that, it is important to understand and remember that sleeping late and waking up late is something that you need to really work upon as that is not normal by any standards.

In short, there is nothing but you that can come between good health and you. If you can follow an active life and emphasize on good health, you will always stay fit and healthy.
