If recent reports are to be believed, Kate Middleton has invited her postman, the local butcher and shopkeepers at a Spar convenience store to the royal wedding on April 29, 2011.
Residents from her Berkshire village are among the ordinary citizens who will mix with royals, dignitaries and celebrities at Westminster Abbey, in keeping with her and Prince William’s wish for a ‘people’s wedding.’
From Dailymail.co.uk:
It had already been revealed that John Haley, landlord of the Old Boot Inn where the couple and Kate’s parents go for a quiet drink, has made the list of 1,900 guests.
Now Chan Shingadia and her husband Hash, who run the Peaches Spar store in Bucklebury, have received their gilded invitations to the ceremony on April 29.
After getting the surprise invite, the Indian-born shopkeeper checked with Kate’s father Mike Middleton whether she could wear a traditional sari at the nuptials. He said yes.
Mrs Shingadia, 42, described how Kate and William regularly pop into the shop to buy Haribo sweets and mint Vienetta ice cream – apparently the prince’s favourite – when they stay at the £1million detached house that has been home to the bride-to-be’s parents for 15 years
Needy and formerly destitute people who have worked with charities of Prince William are also expected to attend the ceremony.
